  1. Trademarks and domain name conflict reminds me of my past encounter in my country, there was a Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) network providers (MTN) Nigeria. In 2008/2009 they were offering one million naira (1 million), promotion by picking their subscribers numbers randomly, even my cousin's number was picked, after interviewing and other processes he was giving cheque worth the above mentioned amount, it was really a genuine promotion. On the faithful day, i received an sms on my mtn mobile phone, from the same network (mtn) offering the promotion, congratulating me that i won (1 million naira) and they directed me to their site to fill in some information about myself and my account number, when i browsed the site, it happened that they had the same background and logo color ie (yellow), i followed the instructions, filled some parts till i got the stage where the site refused to open, a thought came into my mind to call their service care though is always busy, finally i got someone, after my inquiry, i realized that the sms was from cybersquatters and not the original trademark, domain owner's name. They used similar and confusing logo to deceive the public. Moreover they were into phishing. Please always verify before accepting or going into any transaction, especially online. Your comments will be appreciated.

  2. Can a defamation defender use two or three out of the four to defense to defend himself in the law court? for instance, if someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger known as Hollywood movie actor, prominent and famous. Currently serving as the 38th governor of California in USA, made a defamatory statement about Sylvester Stallone, another famous actor. Would Arnold use truth, absolute privilege as a member of executive, and fair comment as a famous actor, as his defense?

  3. I will answer yes, because the defendant being the governor, makes him executive member, in which he has absolute privilege, also as a famous actor he can use fair comment as his defense.
Please feel free to share your opinion.
    Thanks.

  4. Hacking is definitely a malicious deed and unlawful, however I believe most people don't see it as a crime, they see it as achievement, while some see it as an ability, some people want to be noticed or recognized by involving in one crime or the other, don't you agree with me? what can be done to change it?

  5. Sincerely hacking had come a long way and is been practiced daily, i am affraid if the law enforcement laws will be totally eradicate the executers because laws are being made but no enforcement in most cases, sometimes out of injustice and biasness the culprit might be set free rather than facing the law charges.
Im of the opinion that the cause should be identified, justly handled, then followed by solution.

  6. Cyber-terrorism Impact:
Malaysia hopes to make an impact in the global war against cyber terror with the setting up of an international centre that will have leading names in the IT industry serving on its advisory board. The Government has approved RM43mil to set up the centre, aptly called Impact (International Multinational Partnership Against Cyber Terrorism), in Cyberjaya. The non-profit organisation will be the world’s first international public-private sector collaborative institution against cyber terrorism. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi mooted the idea at the World Congress on Information Technology in Austin, United States, last year. Impact management board chairman Mohd Nor Amin told The Star the Cabinet agreed and approved the seed funding for the centre last month. “Impact aims to bring governments and international private sectors together to deal with the increasing threats in cyberspace. “The centre will offer the world the best brains and facilities to help fight cyber security threats. “Currently, there is no such organisation in the world that could fulfil the role,” he said. He said Impact would also allow governments to exchange notes and ideas as well as share skills and best practices towards countering such threats. Impact will be able to respond to emergencies and early warnings to help governments worldwide that face an imminent cyber threat or those already in emergency situations, Mohd Nor said. Some leading names in the IT industry such as Symantec Corporation (United States), Trend Micro (Japan), F-Secure (Finland) and KaperskyLab (Russia) have agreed to be key partners and serve on Impact's international advisory board.

  8. INTERNET/ONLINE SPYING:

Cyber Espionage or Spying, is a developing threat to business world. Internet spying is getting renewed attention as fresh evidence came forth online burglary at U.S. research labs and targeted phishing against corporations and government agencies here and abroad. To an extent it attracted a research firm Sans Institude has ranked cyber surveillance No. 3 on its "Top Ten Cyber endangers for 2008," just behind Web site attacks exploiting browser criticism and botnets such as the scandalous Storm.

In your own suggestion can anything be done to control cyber spying?

  9. According to Michele Stewart, manager of data security at Orlando-based Ait Tran Airways, "Absolutely there's espionage," reference to an incident that happened, Members of AirTran's executive management team were recently targeted by phishing e-mail that sought to trick them into disclosing or divulging confidential corporate information.

My own contribution is that more data security devices should be introduced as a benchmark to control to an extent the spread of cyber spying.
